Finally got the Autograph and while it’s a numbered parallel it’s not a big hit. Ryan Swope retired from football due to concussions before he ever got to prove his talent. Also no Buffalo Bills this time, not even one of a current player in a different team uniform.

More duplicate base cards and not too close to completing the base set or the rookie portion of the cards. After 3 boxes I’ve got approximately 65 out of 100 base cards and 35 out of 100 rookie cards. I’ve got 5 boxes and I didn’t keep the stats for each box so I’ll give the set stats once I’m finished with first 5 posts.

9 hits in this box 4 jersey cards, one numbered. Four ruby parallels. And one Sapphire parallel numbered to 25. Another bonus is that I got two more hits of Buffalo Bills. Percy Harvin although not in Bills uniform he has resigned with the team. And Robert Woods Rookie Material numbered to 299. Let’s Go Buffalo!

This second box also did not come with the promised autograph, but wasn’t short on the four hits. And actually had a bonus hit with the Sapphire parallel. The box did not have a duplicates in it, but I’m already starting to pile up the duplicate base cards. I could be very unlucky but I find it hard to believe that two boxes would have the same Cross Training Materials Quinton Patton card in them.

I’ve done breaks with them but I mostly buy boxes when they go on sale or clearance. So when I saw these cards go on sale for under 20 bucks a box I bought a bunch.

This was a very fun box to open. They are really nice looking cards. At least 8 out of 50 cards are a jersey, numbered, autographed or parallels. Plus the bonus is that I technically got two hits from Buffalo Bills. Justin Hunter was signed mid-season and Mike Gillislee has been a valuable back up to Shady McCoy the past two seasons. Let’s Go Buffalo!

This first box did not come with the promised autograph, but wasn’t short on the four hits. The box did not have a duplicates in it, but as you’ll see in my future posts there seems to be some issues with duplicates. I’m guessing these boxes came from the same case and if that’s true then the distribution of cards is not as good as one would hope. I’ll comment more on the duplicates and set completion stats in my next few posts.

One the eve of what is sure to be a historic election in the United States I received an eBay purchase from Canada. And since the Bills are on Monday Night Football for the first time in a while I had to get this post up. It was about 12 dollars and provided a pretty sweet blast from the past. Check out these very different items I’m adding to the personal collection.

The second part of the shipment was a 1980 Buffalo Bills Team set from Bells Super Markets. A store that hasn’t been around in a long time. These aren’t in the perfect condition but I really like them. They are two cards connected together with a perforation in the cardboard. These cards takes you back to being a kid and collecting the local cards.

Finally the package included two 97 Rock Buffalo Bills Bumper Stickers. I’m pretty sure I had a few of these on school notebooks or bedroom walls when I was a kid.

Jim Kelly – 1984 USFL Rookie Card

I’ve been looking for a Jim Kelly 1984 USFL card for a very long time. I’ve found some at prices that were a little out of what I was comfortable paying. I’ve seen some graded ones on eBay going for upwards of 150 bucks. That’s a little bit more than I’m willing to pay, especially since they seem to be pretty common. I’ve seen a few ungraded ones in card shops going for $75-$100. Again they seem a little too common to be at that price. Then a few weeks ago while cruising through eBay I found a listing that I kept my eye on. It was a lot of two cards. The 1984 Jim Kelly USFL Rookie card and the 1985 Jim Kelly USFL card. Starting bid was $39.99.

I watched hoping it wouldn’t raise much higher. Put in my last second bid of 60 bucks and surprisingly won the auction at $56 for both cards delivered. Not a bad price at all. And I’ve got the true Jim Kelly rookie card from his first season in professional football.

At the time of this post, I’ve cataloged over 290 different Jim Kelly cards. I’ve now got cards numbered as low as 1 of 10. I’ve got autographed cards. I’ve got graded cards. I’ve got memorabilia cards. I’ve got rookies cards. Now I just need to get one of those 1 of 1 cards.

Kind of disappointing getting a base pack for the Contenders but the Elite Dallas Clark 4-color jersey numbered to 49 made up for it. It’s also one of the thickest cards I’ve ever seen in a while. The scan doesn’t even give it justice. If you aren’t getting a monthly Loot Locker you are missing out. Now go out and open up some more cards.

2011 Panini Contenders Hobby Box

I know it’s been a while, but sometimes life gets in the way of collecting football cards. I know that is really hard to believe. But I’m back at it, full speed ahead. And we are three weeks into the NFL season and I haven’t had one player come close to hitting on the stats needed for the 2016 Blowout Cards Season Long Player Contest. And to top it off my best chance of winning the end of year award is out for the season, thanks to Adrian Peterson’s unfortunate knee injury. Now my hopes are on Le’Veon Bell after missing 3 games and Dez Bryant really picking it up. But I digress.

But here is the last of the 3 boxes that I randomly got with the contest. It’s 2011 Panini Contenders. Blowout cards no longer has any of these boxes available. I also couldn’t find any on a few of the other notable websites, so I’m pretty pumped about opening up this box.
