Jim Kelly – 2015 Panini Spectra Football

A couple of weeks ago I made a bit of an impulse purchase on eBay.  It was a lot of eight Jim Kelly cards from the 2015 Panini Spectra Football set.  This purchase led to a new trading card quest.  It’s not going to be easy and it might not even be possible to find, but I’m looking to complete the rainbow of Jim Kelly variations.  Here are the cards I purchased. Base 19/99    Neon Blue 04/49    Neon Blue Die-Cut 02/35    Neon Green 18/25    Neon Green Die-Cut 04/15    Neon Pink 07/10    Neon Pink Die-Cut 4/5    Neon Orange 3/3    So I’m still looking for the Neon Orange Die-Cut 1 of 1 and the Gold 1 of 1. These are obviously the hardest ones to find, and the most expensive but if anyone out there has one, please let me know.  I’m willing to trade and/or buy. Either way these cards are a great addition to the person collection. Let’s Go Buffalo!

UPDATE: 2016 Blowout NFL Season PLAYER Promo

This is a bittersweet, and very delayed, post but I felt like I needed to get it out there before Christmas.  During Week 14 of the NFL season when the Bills were defeated and basically knocked out of the playoffs, a certain Pittsburgh running back went over the 200 yard mark.  The Bills are technically still mathematically alive for the playoffs.   This loss probably bounced Buffalo from the first (and Rex Ryan promised) playoff berth since 1999.  It was a very disappointing outcome.  But, I did get 100 dollars for Le’Veon Bell’s effort from Blowout Cards!  Here are all the details from my earlier post about the contest. I got that going for me, which is nice!  Not sure what I should buy with my new found money but I’m pretty pumped about having an extra $100 to buy a new hobby box or two! I’ve got a busy couple of weeks coming up so this may be my last post of 2016.  Hope you have a Merry Christmas filled with family and fun.  And maybe unwrapping a few hits too!  And to get my New Year’s Resolutions off to a good start, here’s the first for me to work […]

2013 Rookies and Stars Longevity – Box 1

As I’ve stated before I buy a lot of my cards from www.dacardworld.com. Not only are they a great Buffalo company but they also have some of the best prices on the internet. I’ve done breaks with them but I mostly buy boxes when they go on sale or clearance. So when I saw these cards go on sale for under 20 bucks a box I bought a bunch. Here are the details: Look for Four Autographs or Memorabilia Cards per Box, including at least One Autograph! Find Freshman Orientation and Dress for Success Rookie Material Cards! Look for Exclusive Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Parallels as well as Material, Signature, and Signature Material Versions! eBay purchase from Canada

One the eve of what is sure to be a historic election in the United States I received an eBay purchase from Canada. And since the Bills are on Monday Night Football for the first time in a while I had to get this post up. It was about 12 dollars and provided a pretty sweet blast from the past. Check out these very different items I’m adding to the personal collection. 1993 Stadium Club – Master Photo (Buffalo Bills) Mark Kelso. Bruce Smith,  Jim Kelly,  Andre Reed,  Pete Metzelaars,  Nate Odomes,  Bill Brooks,  Darryl Talley,  Steve Tasker,  Don Beebe,  Henry Jones,  Cornelius Bennett Here are two of the scans front and back. They are 5×7 and a  very nice addition to the Buffalo Bills collection. The second part of the shipment was a 1980 Buffalo Bills Team set from Bells Super Markets. A store that hasn’t been around in a long time.  These aren’t in the perfect condition but I really like them. They are two cards connected together with a perforation in the cardboard. These cards takes you back to being a kid and collecting the local cards. 1980 Bells Super Markets Buffalo Bills Team Set         […]

Jim Kelly – 1984 USFL Rookie Card

I’ve been looking for a Jim Kelly 1984 USFL card for a very long time.  I’ve found some at prices that were a little out of what I was comfortable paying.  I’ve seen some graded ones on eBay going for upwards of 150 bucks.  That’s a little bit more than I’m willing to pay, especially since they seem to be pretty common.  I’ve seen a few ungraded ones in card shops going for $75-$100.  Again they seem a little too common to be at that price.  Then a few weeks ago while cruising through eBay I found a listing that I kept my eye on.  It was a lot of two cards.  The 1984 Jim Kelly USFL Rookie card and the 1985 Jim Kelly USFL card.  Starting bid was $39.99. I watched hoping it wouldn’t raise much higher.  Put in my last second bid of 60 bucks and surprisingly won the auction at $56 for both cards delivered.  Not a bad price at all.  And I’ve got the true Jim Kelly rookie card from his first season in professional football. At the time of this post, I’ve cataloged over 290 different Jim Kelly cards.  I’ve now got cards numbered as […]

2011 Panini Contenders Hobby Box

I know it’s been a while, but sometimes life gets in the way of collecting football cards.  I know that is really hard to believe.  But I’m back at it, full speed ahead.  And we are three weeks into the NFL season and I haven’t had one player come close to hitting on the stats needed for the 2016 Blowout Cards Season Long Player Contest.  And to top it off my best chance of winning the end of year award is out for the season, thanks to Adrian Peterson’s unfortunate knee injury.  Now my hopes are on Le’Veon Bell after missing 3 games and Dez Bryant really picking it up.  But I digress. But here is the last of the 3 boxes that I randomly got with the contest.  It’s 2011 Panini Contenders.  Blowout cards no longer has any of these boxes available.  I also couldn’t find any on a few of the other notable websites, so I’m pretty pumped about opening up this box. Box Configuration: 24 packs per box, 5 cards per pack Price: $129.95 (sold out in most places) Content Highlights: Look for (4) Autographs, (1) Parallel, (3) ROY Contenders, (3) Draft Class, (3) Rookie Roll Call, […]

Grand Slam Collectibles – Murfreesboro, TN

And as my travel season begins, this becomes the 3rd brick and mortar card shop I’ve actually visited since starting to write about them.  This one in Murfreesboro, TN was open for just one week when I walked through the door.  It was well laid out but Nathan, the owner, was still building his inventory.  He had a great set up of glass displays with a large football section.   Good for me!  Nothing Jim Kelly, bad for me. After I searched through card boxes labeled $2 and the one labeled $1.50 and the one labeled $1, I found a few Bills cards to add to my personal collection.  I then chatted with the owner, Nathan.  We talked about why he opened the place and what he hoped to do.  He told me he was selling a lot on Ebay but also had really good foot traffic during the first week.  He told me he thought the walk-ins would continue since there isn’t many places in middle Tennessee.  His main business is buying and selling single cards.  We chatted about the trading card industry and a little bit of football for almost 30 minutes before I paid $17 for some Bills […]
